......to one man's continuing story of rediscovering model railroading. And, not wanting to make things too easy for himself, he decided to model his first lay-out in 30 odd years after the commuter line he used to take in his teens in Holland. And this fool lives in Canada, where there isn't exactly easy access to information and models pertinent to the task of modeling a piece of the "Nederlandse Spoorwegen". That's why he calls this exercise his "NS Quest".

From here you can jump to the account of how it all came about in the mission statement, which contains lots of relevant links to pictures on this site, or you can go straight to the lay-out page. My links pages contain lots of links to European modeling sources, with an (obvious) emphasis on Dutch matters. I have recently added a small page with some pictures I stumbled across of the first layout us boys had as teens in the early sixties. I'm also in the process of putting together picture pages with a variety of NS material. And slowly, but surely, I'm building up a sizeable database of all HO models of NS material ever made. If you have a small list of NS models, complete with manufacturer and cat.# of such models, I would greatly appreciate receiving this list in whichever form. Just and we'll take it from there. It is my intention to put this listing on this site, in html format initially, and down the road hopefully in a searchable database as well.

Enjoy the ride and, if you do, please sign my Guestbook before you leave. It would be nice if visitors left an actual note, rather than just their unwitting cookies with the counterserver (I know how it is though, I'm not particularly big on leaving notes in guestbooks myself), I'd love to hear from you. The webcounters and stat trackers on the index page at least provide me with some indication of how much traffic these pages get and where it's coming from. And I see we have had visitors from such far away places as Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bolivia, Brazil, Bulgaria, Cayman Islands, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Malaysia, Malta, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Tonga, Turkey, Ukraine, the United Arab Emirates, the UK and Venezuela. Oh, and the US military and the US government: time to get paranoid or just some federal employees putting tax dollars to good use??? Won't you check my guestbook please and take a look at the few kind words others had to say. Please of broken links or site errors, thanks.

From here you can go to my other pages on the web, where you can find out a bit more about the other hobbies and friends around our place, feathered ones, rott-n-ones and our "outside interests".
